Quaker City Motorsports Park Night of Fire

Quaker City Motorsports Park Night of Fire

Saturday, July 28th Quaker City Motorsports Park Night of Fire (Salem, OH):  Quaker City management put together an exciting jet car show for this year’s Night Of Fire. They had 6 jet dragsters plus Bob Motz’s Jet Kenworth. Much to our surprise they contacted us the week of the event to book in four GLNFCC cars, unfortunately due to various commitments we were only able to get three cars to attend the event.

The advertising must have hit the right cord this year because it looked to be an almost standing room only crowd. Surprisingly mother nature gave us a dry and not so hot day for a nice change.

This was our only time to run here this season and we were hoping to put on a great show. First out was the Total Insanity Monza driven by Chris Massarella, he came out with a big half track smoky burnout. Unfortunately, the timers were not changed, and they were set to the 1/8th, mile not the 1/4. His time was a 4.45/156.63.

Next up, fresh from his runner up finish at The Good Vibrations Motorsports Funny Car Nationals was Bill Walls in the Nitroflier II Omni taking on Robin Stambaugh in the Generation X Corvette. Bill moved first and ran a 6.73/190 to Robins 7.04/193. Robin had some brake issues and ran off the end of the track busting up the front end just a little. They had the car fixed and ready for the next round.

Bill Walls was up first in the second round and came out with a killer burnout. This pass he stopped the clocks at a 7.025.

The final round pitted the Generation X Corvette against the Total Insanity Monza. Chris was slow off the line, but Robin was even slower. Chris took the win with a 7.06 to Robin’s 7.66.

The Peak Products winner trophy went to Chris Massarella.

The S & W Race Cars contingency award went to Chris Massarella (Winner) and Robin Stambaugh (Runner Up).

The Good Vibration Motorsports Reaction Time Award went to Bill Walls.

Thank you to the Quaker City Motorsports staff for letting us be a part of this event and giving us a great racing surface to run on.

Thank you to our series sponsors: Peak Products, S & W Performance Group, Blue Def, Good Vibrations Motorsports and Lightning Oil Products.
